Arrived in Sorrento

a tree growing both oranges and lemons, in the main street in Sorrento

Mark with Vesuvius in the background

Hannah, with her unbrushed Rats Tails, and Mark Vesuvius

Look!!!! Tshits showing!! no hats, no gloves, no thermals!!!!!!

Our sleeping compartment on the train this morning, reminded Mark of being in SAT

we caught the overnight train down to sorrento overnight, leaving Venice at 11.30, and got into Naples at 10am.. then caught the Centrivesuvio train to Sorrento, covered in dodgy characters, including begging gypsy children, who were filthy, and persistant.

This Hotel is rubbish

Supposably, it had WIFI, Washing machine, and a seperate bedroom.

Nope, none of those, 4 beds with rock hard mattresses, in one room, but it did have 2 hotplates, so we cooked dinner tonight, Risotto, (yep, again)and a big big salad, well needed.

We walked a lot of found this cool place run by an older couple, so we have rented 2 of their apartments, one for us, one for the kids, for less than the price of Dodgy Sorrento Town Suites!

we move in there on Sunday Morning, for 5 more nights.. the weather looks like it wil be OK, sunny all weekend, then light rain for 3 days, so Tuesday will be washing, chillout day, and went back tonight to confirm all is sorted, got a welcoming party from the old neighbours who came inot see uas etc etc,, nice, it is right on the main drag, but has a gorgeous courtyard, huge rooms, and a clean bathroom.

The one we are in is horrible, the wood rotting around the timber,,

Anyway, found an internet cafe, so we are online for one hour, or as long as this battery lasts.

Sorrento is warm.

13 degrees and sunny,

what a change from the numbing dark wet cold of Venice.
we really needed to warm up,
the town is old, Roman built, the coast is rugged and stunning, and there are huge tropical gardens and palm trees everywhere, very very nice

There are so many clothes shops! Its odd, really, cant find a bakery, but found 2 Max Mara stores in the main street

The people seem nicer than up north, perhaps because it is off season, so there are not too many tourists around at the moemnt. A lot of the hotels are shut till March or April, too.
Tomorrow, off to Pompeii, on the train, which will be brilliant to see.

Its also cheaper here, comparatively.

Coking our own meals and making our own lunch to take will keep it really relaxed.

So far, we are on Budget, which is a shock, to us! but we worked it all out, and even with the high costs of Venice
