Venice, January 6th

Oh, so so cold.
We had a bet as to what time it would start snowing.. 2.30 pm,
The wind is bitterly cold...and it is OK in some areas, but in the open spaces it howls through you.
2 thermal shirts, long johns ,jeans, a sweater, a ski jacket 2 scarves and a pair of gloves and the fur hat, and it was still too cold to straighten my neck.
Mark felt it the most, with 3 layers as well...this is the coldest we have been
Today we walked, walked walked walked. we found an area that was all residential, and a small supermarket, for basics, then kept walking.. Bought a bottle of Cointreau, for night warmers,We stopped for Chocolata, and coffee twice, and had lunch at at trattoria, Pasta, Pizza.
and managed to get lost again on the way home, we were 120 metres away.
Now, off to find some tea, then bed with books
Hannahs birthday tomorrow morning(7th Jan) so all her presents are wrapped, staring at her from the end of her bed.
THE TEMPTATION!!!!!!

Masks, Masks, everywhere. The carnival starts in a few weeks, so they are gearing up a little heavier than normal

This was in one of the further areas of Venice, poorer, more residential, there is a famous black and white pic, with the wshing across a canal, and it reminded me of it
Every corner is a new look, something to photograph, and then I look at the 412 pictures I took today, and think "this is overkill"

one of the mannequins on various street corners

More masks, the colours are gorgeous

this pic, from the Gardens, shows how really cold it is today

Yes, looks like a sad Fake tan, but I think its the light. I am neither jaundiced, or a German tourist. This is on our Balcony looking up the canal

Another Mask. I like this pic a lot

after all that sun in switzerland you look very tanned, and yes the germans like a good look, but these poor people never have alot of sun all year round, so do not make fun of them! haha.

Oh Venice, I loved it. I would go back in a heart beat. Got lost more times than I can remember, but it's a rite of passage, anyone who doesn't hasn't really walked around the city! God, you look cold, incredible that the Swiss Alps were warmer. Couldn't you go mad with shopping? Hope Hannah has a lovely birthday, what a memory whe will have of the day
Love Kate and Boys xx
